United Airlines and ANA have dropped the price of their flights from Montreal to Tokyo and Osaka, Japan down to between $550 and $650 CAD roundtrip including taxes!
The flights to Tokyo have 1 stop each way. To Osaka, there is an extra stop.
From Osaka, it's a 26 minute train ride ($17) to the beautiful city of Kyoto if you use the special rapid trains on the JR Kyoto Line.
You can also fly into Tokyo but home from Osaka for the same price. It's also worth trying many other cities in Japan instead of Osaka. See instructions below.
Update 11/2 @ 5:00 PM - It looks like this is over. Some cheap ones are still showing up on Skyscanner but through the slow booking sites (eDreams, Tripair) who may not have their prices updated yet.

NOTE: April 29 to May 5 is Japan's 'Golden Week' when everyone in Japan goes on holidays, meaning everything is very busy, booked, etc.
The best time to view cherry blossoms depends on the location in Japan, and varies each year. As a general rule, in many areas it is from late March to early April.
How to find and book this deal
1. Try the following Google Flights search:
Google Flights: Montreal to Tokyo, Japan
Google Flights: Montreal to Osaka, Japan
- click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations
- look for the dates that are $620 to $670 CAD roundtrip.
2. Go to Skyscanner or Flighthub
- Search for a flight from Montreal to Tokyo or Osaka, Japan
- Use the same dates you found on Google Flights

You can also fly into Tokyo but home from Osaka for the same price. It's also worth trying many other cities in Japan instead of Osaka.

Google Flights: Montreal to Tokyo, and then Tokyo to Osaka, and then Osaka to Montreal
2. Go to Skyscanner or Flighthub
- Click on the 'Flights' tab
- Change the search type from 'Return' to 'Multi-City'
- Try the same flight itinerary and dates you found on Google Flights. The price will usually be lower on Skyscanner or Flighthub.
