For the first time in quite a while, there are some flights from Montreal to cities in Australia for under $1000 roundtrip, on a few different airlines, including Delta, Virgin Australia, and United Airlines.
The flights have 1 stop each way, in Los Angeles or San Francisco.
You can also turn these into 2-in-1 trips and visit both Australia and Los Angeles, for under $1000.
You can also look at flying into one Australian city, but home from another, and keep the price the same

How to find and book this deal
1. Try a Google Flights search like this one...
Google Flights: Montreal to Sydney, Australia (SYD)
Google Flights: Montreal to Brisbane, Australia (BNE)
Google Flights: Montreal to Melbourne, Australia (MEL)
- click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations
- look for the dates that are somewhere between $1060 and $1076 roundtrip.
2. Go to Momondo or Skyscanner
- search for a flight from Montreal (YUL) to...
Sydney (SYD)
or
Brisbane (BNE)
or
Melbourne (MEL)
- use the same dates you found on Google Flights

You can also turn these into 2-in-1 trips, and visit both Australia *and* Los Angeles, for the same price
1. First, try finding a normal roundtrip flight to Australia, using the Google Flights links above.
For example, let's say you found a flight from Montreal (YUL) to Sydney (SYD), from Oct 16 to Oct 30.
2. Now go to Momondo
- Change the search type to 'Multi City' (not available on the mobile site)
3. Search for a flight like this one:
Montreal (YUL) to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to Los Angeles (LAX)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Montreal (YUL)
- For the first and last legs of the journey, use the dates from the normal roundtrip flight that you found on Google Flights.
- You can play around with the middle date to give yourself more or less time in Sydney vs Los Angeles.
For example, here is a screenshot from Momondo of Oct 16 to Oct 25 to Oct 30.
You can also try San Francisco instead of Los Angeles (although it may bump up the price by about $100).
