Air Canada has dropped the price of their flights from Montreal to Tokyo and Osaka, Japan down to $1072 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
From Montreal to Tokyo it's possible to find nonstop flights both ways on certain dates. Or you can find 1 stop flights that connect through Vancouver or Toronto.
You can also fly into Osaka (KIX - Kansai) and out of Tokyo (NRT - Narita) or vice versa for about $100 more.
Air Canada and ANA are also offering 1 stop flights to Tokyo via Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. starting at $899 CAD roundtrip.
You can also find 2 stop flights from Montreal to Hiroshima or Okinawa, Japan for $989 roundtrip.
You can also fly into one of the cities mentioned above, and out of a different city in Japan, for a similar price.
UPDATE - Tokyo can still be found for $1074 roundtrip. Other destinations in Japan have gone back up in price.

- Look for the dates that are $1073 roundtrip
2. Go to Kayak or Skyscanner or FlightHub
3. Search for a flight from Montreal (YUL) to Tokyo, Japan (TYO)
