Montreal to Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne, Australia - $961 CAD roundtrip including taxes on Qantas | add Los Angeles or San Francisco for free

Sydney, Australia

Qantas (a great airline) has dropped the price of their February, March, April, and May 2018 flights from Montreal to Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, Australia down to $961 CAD roundtrip including taxes.

The flights have 1 stop each way.

It's also possible to turn these into 2-in-1 trips and visit both Australia *and* Los Angeles or San Francisco, and keep the price at $961 CAD roundtrip.

You can also find 3-in-1 trips that allow you to visit all 3 of these major Australian cities (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) on one trip for $993 CAD.

Availability for travel

February, March, April, May, June 2018

How to find and book these flights

1. Go to FlightHub

2. Search for a flight from Montreal to...

Sydney (SYD)
Brisbane (BNE)
Melbourne (MEL)

Try dates in February, March, and April 2018

TIP: Try starting with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday dates. Once your search completes, click on 'Flexible Dates' and look for the flights that are $961.

You may want to try a few different date combinations. Try to find the flights that have around a 2-3 hour layover each way. Not every date combination has the ideal 2-3 hour layovers each way.

The fastest flights may not be the flights at the very top of your search results, sometimes you need to check out the first 3 or 4 flights.

You can also try clicking on '1 Stop Only' on the left hand side after your search completes.

You can also turn these into a 2-in-1 trip, and spend time in both Australia *and* Los Angeles (or San Francisco) for $961 CAD roundtrip including taxes

Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, California

1. First, I would recommend successfully finding a normal roundtrip flight to Australia using the method described above.

Keep those dates in mind, and we'll be using them to help find our 2-in-1 trip.

For example, let's pretend you successfully found a regular roundtrip flight from Feb 28 to Mar 14.

2. Go to FlightHub

Click on 'Multi-City'

3. Search for a flight like this:

Montreal to Sydney, Australia (SYD)
Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles (LAX)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Montreal

or

Montreal to Sydney, Australia (SYD)
Sydney, Australia to San Francisco (SFO)
San Francisco (SFO) to Montreal

or, if you'd like, try using Brisbane or Melbourne instead of Sydney.

4. As for the dates to use, for the first and last legs of the journey, try using start and end dates that are similar to the regular roundtrip flight dates that I asked you to keep in mind from Step 1.

And then play around with the middle date, to give you more or less time in Australia vs Los Angeles.

For example, if the regular roundtrip dates that you found were:
Feb 28 to Mar 14

Try using these dates:
Feb 28 to Mar 12 to Mar 14

3-in-1 trip: If you really want to get fancy, you may be able to find trips that allow you to visit multiple Australian cities *and* Los Angeles or San Francisco, and still keep the price in the $900s CAD roundtrip

I would recommend first attempting to find a 2-in-1 trip using the instructions in the paragraph above.

Once you have found a 2-in-1 trip, try using similar dates to find a 3-in-1 trip.

1. Go to FlightHub

2. Click on Multi-City

3. Search for a flight like this:

Montreal to Brisbane (BNE)
Brisbane (BNE) to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to Los Angeles (LAX)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Montreal

or

Montreal to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to Brisbane (BNE)
Brisbane (BNE) to Los Angeles (LAX)
Los Angeles (LAX) to Montreal

Variations: You can try substituting San Francisco for Los Angeles.

2. Click on Multi-City

3. Search for a flight like this:

Montreal (YUL) to Melbourne (MEL)
Melbourne (MEL) to Sydney (SYD)
Sydney (SYD) to Brisbane (BNE)
Brisbane (BNE) to Montreal (YUL)

4. As for the dates to use: focus on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday dates in February, March, April, May and June.

Feb 7 to Feb 12 to Feb 19 to Feb 28
